Green dot in Europe
 
The Green Dot logo does not mean that packaging is biodegradable, but that the companies using it participate in the cost of recycling packaging. Initially a German initiative, the Green Dot log is used in 8 countries: Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium and Ireland.

The system for calculating the cost of the Green Dot is different in every country, so we have tried to provide a general summary in the table below.
The S.P.R.L. (Packaging Recovery Organisation Europe, abbreviated to PRO EUROPE) is based in Brussels. Its job is to issue licences for the Green Dot logo to European companies. Other companies act as partners in these eight countries.
