Coembal Chile News

Coembal Chile has developed a container for Sociedad Anónima Nestlé de Chile to contain 65 ml of ice cream with the brand name Nestlé Savory Comics Sorpresas (surprises). This container, entirely thermoformed with a blue, coextruded polystyrene sheet, consists of 4 pieces, delivered ready assembled to the customer as a final container for filling and sealing. The container consists of a thermoformed, conical main body, on which a decorative thermotractile label is placed. This back printed label brilliantly decorates the container.

A surprise gift is placed in the sharpest point of the body, wrapped in a small polyethylene bag. This surprise is isolated from the rest of the interior by a white, thermoformed polystyrene lid, with a small tab which allows the surprise to be taken out when the product has been consumed.

The ice cream portion is put on top of this lid and the wider part of the container closed with a blue thermoformed lid made of the same polystyrene, also with a tab for opening the container. This lid has a circular label stuck on in the factory with all the required legal text and the barcode.

Coexpan Brazil News

The company, S.A. FABRICA DE PRODUCTOS ALIMENTICIOS VIGOR OF SAO PAULO (BRAZIL), has entrusted our company in Brazil, COEXPAN BRASIL EMBALAGEMS LTDA, with the manufacture of a new printed sheet which is used for the packaging of their new QUEIJO MORANGO FLAVOUR “PETIT SUISSE” TYPE, which, as can be seen in the photo, is a blue printed co-extrusion with five-pointed stars. This new presentation is giving our customer major success in the market and allows it to differentiate their product from other “Petit Suisse” currently on the market.
The system allows personalisation of products by means of printing applied to the sheet. This printing must always be continuous.

“ COEXPAN NET GROUP loses weight !!”

COEXPAN announces that, as of this year, we are regularly producing a new line of foamed PS: QEPS.

QEPS are foamed polystyrene (sheets) suitable to packaging and standards for organic goods and organic products, currently required by European legislation.
The (global) density of the resultant layers varies between 0.9 and 0.8 .
The scope of use of this new material is quite simply this market for food products packaged through FFS technology specifically for the FMP (Fresh Milk Product) sector, of which COEXPAN NET is the clear world leader.

This a new chapter in COEXPAN GROUP’s history: that of large-scale production and sales of foamed material for (container) production using the form fill seal process nor the output of yoghourt production processes.
Actually, the new line of foamed PS developed by COEXPAN allows machines with high production output (from 20k to 40 k yoghourts per hour) function at the same speed as in the case or a “normal” PS (1,05 density).
We firmly believe that the economic advantages of this new type of material are undeniable: on the one hand, (there is a) 15% reduction in the weight of the packaging (the density reduces from 1,05 to 0,9) and on the other hand (there is a) 15% reduction in the eco-rate on the package.

Since 1997, COEXPAN has been the number one manufacturer of PS sheet dedicated to investigation of these products for the form fill seal yoghourt sector, having implemented a development program for these materials in its R&D division based in the COEXPAN GROUP headquarters in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).

To date, COEXPAN GROUP estimates a world market for the FFS sheets of 300 000 ton/year with a production level of 100 000 Ton/year. Currently, our production capacity for foam sheets is 20000 Tons/year.

Undoubtly, we feel this new product responds very satisfactorily to the demands food packaging as well companies in the sector set forth by wholesalers, COEXPAN, as the world leader in the primary packaging sector, has pre-empted these demands.

Yours faithfully,

PRESS RELEASE

Plastic Packaging : From yoghourt to long shelf life

The COEXPAN GROUP, which head office is in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) and with 10 plants all-over the world, is going on with its permanent plan of expansion and has just bought the firm FSP, SA in Roye (Francia), specialized in the manufacturing of coextruded barrier foil.

Located between Paris and Lille, FSP. SA, with 10 years of experience in packaging, developped in 1998 a range of multilayers plastic foils high barrier to gas (EVOH) for the packaging of fragile or long shelf life products (preserve, cheese, meat, fish, etc...). Its market share multiplied by 5 the last four years and its turnover 2002 will be over 10 million euros.

With this purchase, the COEXPAN GROUP will increase its production of this type of foil considerably, of which it produces an important volume as well in its plant of Madrid, and thus it will enlarge its range of products, in particular expanded polyprolylene multilayers foils and thiner thicknesses.

The obvious synergy between the two companies will allow FSP to continue its industrial and commercial development.

The COEXPAN GROUP, leader in the manufacturing of polystyrene sheets for the dairy products packaging, tends this way to spread its presence worldwide in the barrier foil markets with the aim to increase the market share it holds nowadays.
